
Muhammad Usman Zuru, the Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly has died while receiving medical care abroad as reported by The Punch.
He reportedly passed away on Monday night at a hospital in Egypt, where he had been undergoing treatment for an illness that has not been disclosed to the public.
His death has thrown the state’s political circle into mourning, with officials confirming the development but withholding further medical details for now.
Until his passing, Zuru served as the representative of Zuru Constituency in the state legislature and was seen as one of the influential voices in the Assembly.
Reacting to the news, an aide to the governor on Communication and Strategy, Idris Zuru, expressed deep shock over the loss.
“The death of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Usman Zuru, came to us as a rude shock. It is a painful loss not only to Kebbi State but to the entire nation,” he said.
He further noted that the government was still working to gather complete information surrounding the circumstances of his death and would soon make an official announcement.
“We are still gathering full details surrounding his passing. The government will make an official statement and announce burial arrangements in consultation with the family,” Zuru stated.
Authorities say further updates, including funeral arrangements, will be communicated once consultations with the family are concluded.
