"A lucky soul" – Sheikh Gumi reacts to the demise of Iran's supreme leader

Islamic cleric Ahmad Gumi has reacted to reports of the death of Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader, describing him as a fortunate soul who died in what he characterized as jihad.

In a statement shared on his Facebook page on Sunday, Gumi said Khamenei died while standing against those he described as killers of innocent women and children in Gaza and other places.

“Ayatollah Ali Khamenei: A lucky soul, he died in Jihad against killers of innocent children and women in Gaza and elsewhere.

His blood will fuel the change in the ummah. He stood firmly for Justice and didn’t hide in bunkers. For those who killed him or assisted in killing him, let us see what they will live to do in this world.”

Khamenei, who served for decades as Iran’s Supreme Leader and was a central figure in the country’s political and religious leadership, was reported to have died following an Israeli strike in Tehran on Saturday.
