Dubai’s iconic hotel Burj Al Arab was reportedly struck by a suspected suicide drone on Saturday evening, sending thick plumes of black smoke across the skyline and leaving several people injured.
Footage shared online shows flames at the base of the luxury hotel as firefighters rushed to the scene. Authorities later confirmed that the fire was under control.
The attack came hours after another drone strike hit the Fairmont The Palm in Palm Jumeirah, injuring four people.
Eyewitnesses reported hearing loud blasts as smoke spread across Dubai’s tourist hotspot.
Dramatic videos circulating online appeared to show a drone diving toward the Burj Al Arab before impact.
“An incident occurred in a building in the Palm Jumeirah area. Four people were injured and rushed to hospital. The flames are now under control,” a Dubai government spokesperson said,
The United Arab Emirates has reportedly intercepted waves of Iranian drones and missiles targeting the country following joint US-Israeli operations.
Explosions were also reported at US military bases in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and the UAE, with smoke rising near the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain.
British tourist Will Bailey described the chaos, saying, “It felt like World War Three. Missiles have just landed in Abu Dhabi, which is about an hour drive from Dubai.”
In Israel, sirens wailed as Iranian missiles were intercepted over major cities.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called Iran an “existential threat,” while US President Donald Trump condemned Tehran, warning of severe consequences if they continue their attacks.
Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard confirmed a “first wave” of drones and missiles, stating that American and Israeli targets are legitimate.
Hardline parliamentarian Alaeddin Boroujerdi warned of “no red lines” in retaliation, pledging a powerful response.
Airspace across parts of the Gulf has been closed, with terrified tourists running for cover.
UAE authorities are urging residents and visitors to remain indoors and follow official guidance as the situation continues to unfold.
