Jonathan said there could come a time when two large buildings would be established in Abuja to display photographs of people, both living and dead, who played roles in Nigeria’s problems.

According to him, such a move would allow future generations to understand the actions of their forebears and the impact those actions had on the country.

Jonathan speaks on accountability

While sharing his thoughts, the former president said future generations deserve to know the identities of those who contributed to Nigeria’s difficulties.

Speaking on the issue, he said:

One day, we will have two big buildings in Abuja where we will put pictures of people, whether dead or alive, who have messed up this country so that their grandchildren will know their forefathers were part of Nigeria’s problems.”

The remark has generated conversations among Nigerians on social media, with many users offering differing opinions on accountability, governance and the importance of preserving historical records.

Some commenters agreed with the idea, while others debated how responsibility for the country’s challenges should be defined and documented.

The statement has continued to attract attention online, fueling discussions about leadership, national development and the lessons future generations should inherit.
