Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene in the security situation in the state ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
Speaking in a video circulating online while addressing the public, Adeleke lamented the insecurity in Osun, alleging that innocent residents were being killed while accusing security agencies of failing to tackle the situation.
The governor insisted that Osun people had already thrown their support behind President Tinubu, questioning why the state was still experiencing violence.
He also warned against any attempt to manipulate the outcome of the forthcoming election, assuring that residents would come out in large numbers to vote and protect their ballots.
“President Tinubu, I am passing this message to you. What else do you want Osun people to do again? We’ve already endorsed you. What exactly do you want again?
“Why are they still killing us? The police are already compromised. Kidnappers are there, you didn’t face them. President Tinubu, I am using this moment to tell you enough is enough. I’m the chief security officer of Osun State.
I’m passing this message to you, Osun will not accept any rigging. We’ll go out in mass and vote, and also defend our votes. I repeat, don’t let what happened in 1993 repeat itself. President Tinubu, Osun people have endorsed you as our presidential candidate. Why are we suffering? Call Oyetola to order. Let the bloodshed in Osun be put to a stop,” he said.
The remarks have since generated reactions online as political tension continues to build ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.
