Limpopo police are still hunting for missing youngster Omphile Sethole.
Omphile Sethole, two years old, was taken from her house on Saturday, May 2.
Police in Limpopo are still looking for Omphile Sethole, a two-year-old who was kidnapped from her home on May 2.
Omphile was seized from her home in Ga-Mabuela Village ten days ago.
Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the regional police spokesperson, told IOL that there were no new leads in the toddler’s disappearance, but that officers were continuing to hunt.
Omphile’s 52-year-old grandma last saw her at 2 a.m., and she was wearing a pink jersey and black tights at the time.
“It is said that at around 2 a.m., the victim’s 52-year-old grandmother awoke to use the restroom and took her granddaughter, Omphile Sethole, with her before returning to bed. When the grandmother awoke again at around 6 a.m., the child was gone, and a window in the room was open,” Ledwaba added.
Family members and neighbours quickly began searching the area, but the toddler could not be found.
Authorities are warning the public to avoid spreading misinformation on social media, stating that the toddler has not yet been located.
The Limpopo Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has already expressed alarm about the spread of false and misleading information on numerous social media platforms saying that Omphile Sethole had been found dead.
“This information is incorrect, and the infant girl has not been located. “The search for the missing toddler continues,” Hadebe said.
Anyone with information on Omphile Sethole’s location or the suspect can contact the Investigating Officer, Serjeant Moshe Mashaba, at 082 319 9448, Crime Stop at 08600 10111, or go to the local police station or use the MySAPS App.
