"What leaders feast…" —Ex Minister Oby Ezekwesili blasts Tinubu, APC over Plateau killings

A former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, has strongly criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over what she described as indifference to ongoing killings in parts of the country.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Ezekwesili expressed outrage at what she called a lack of urgency and empathy from the nation’s leadership amid fresh violence, particularly in Jos, Plateau State.

‘Leaders Feasting While Citizens Die’

The former minister questioned the moral standing of leaders who, according to her, continue political activities while citizens are being killed.

Do you know what manner of leaders feast while their people are being slaughtered?” she asked.

She also condemned what she described as the government’s routine response to violent attacks, accusing authorities of issuing “useless press releases” and setting up “hopeless committee appointments” instead of taking decisive action.

Strong Words Against Government Response

Ezekwesili did not hold back in her criticism, describing such leaders as “a group of demonized bloodsucking rulers.”

She further accused those in power of failing in their primary duty to protect lives, insisting that their silence or perceived inaction makes them complicit.

That mother and her son are dead. Their blood is on the hands of you who knew, who looked away,” she wrote.

Call for Public Outrage

Beyond criticising the government, Ezekwesili called on Nigerians to move beyond grief and demand accountability from their leaders.

As for the rest of us, Nigerians, we simply cannot continue to normalize acceptance that a Nigerian life means nothing,” she stated.

She urged citizens to transform their grief into collective action, adding that such demands must carry consequences.

Jos is bleeding… Nigeria is bleeding… Nigerians are bleeding. Silence is complicity,” she concluded.

Growing Concerns Over Security

Her remarks come amid renewed concerns over insecurity in parts of the country, with recent attacks in Plateau State drawing national attention and sparking widespread reactions from citizens and public figures.
